4th Street Baseball 1.3.24.0 The files in this update will replace several of the ones initially installed on your computer.
update 1/29/2024

1.3.24.0  Annual maintenance release.  Added several new options and displays in the Team Management module.  Added and standardized several options in the Stats module, especially with the Comparison options.  Note:  some seasons will show incomplete league and/or team "actual" totals due to incomplete statistical harvesting prior to 2023, most notably on fielding comparisons.

1.3.23.6  Fixed an issue with program displaying incorrect dice roll on bunting plays.

1.3.23.5  Fixed an issue with the manual dice roller appearing during AutoPlay games.

1.3.23.4  Added pinch running capabilities for the AI manager, including new track buttons to designate the conditions when pinch running should occur.  Created new looks for some screens, including the Draft and Lineup modules.  Fixed an issue with some stats not registering properly from walk-off games.

1.3.23.3  Added an automatic download button to player display which will download and attach links to player photos.  See video in Videos > Baseball Computer Game (bottom of page) for more info.  Fixed an issue with program looping when in Helper mode during steal attempts.

1.3.23.2  Added functionality to single player display with a screenshot taker, player image display ability, and a direct to Retrosheet player career stats link.  The player display now uses the same color shading as the board game player cards.  Fixed some issues with the "reconcile" data import function.

1.3.23.1  Fixed issue with season total for DO and SH not reporting correctly in the "mini" box scores.  Increased the column sizes of the offensive and defensive strategy list boxes.  Fixed issue with hit & run plays not advancing batter on strike 'em out, throw 'em out double plays.

1.3.23.0  Annual maintenance release.  Another will soon follow which addresses some issues with the AI and a discrepancy in bunt totals.

1.3.22.2  Added AI manager options for modifying steal calls in innings 1-3, 4-6, and 7+.  Added extracted stats options for score by inning and producing a season schedule for teams with score, winning pitcher, losing pitcher, and saving pitcher.  Added functionality to help system.

1.3.22.1  Fixed an issue with the AI and stealing bases.

1.3.22.0  Completed AutoDraft sequence, which is now capable of creating draft orders (a) by team list, (b) randomly, (c) via "ping pong" odds.  AutoDraft will also stop for human interaction on teams marked as "manual."  Added "Best 10" list to Draft module.  Added several report types to Draft module.  Added enhanced Import/Export function in Draft module.  Improved substitution performance during AutoPlay.

1.3.21.3  Some improvements were made to the A.I. to help with using starters as relievers.  Some fixes were made to ballpark effects to better handle situations where baserunners were not automatically advancing 2 bases on singles to the outfield.

1.3.21.2  Introduced an automatic file backup system and a file restore function.  To restore a file to a previous point, select one of the Roll Back File function under the File menu on the home screen.  Two new stats screens are now available on the game screen; one displays actual batting stats, the other displays replay batting stats.  Both are found in the bench areas for the two teams.

1.3.21.1  Improvements and fixes were provided to the board game stats keeper and stats editor.  A graphic issue was resolved in which the home team's logo appeared on the visitor's bench area.  The game is now capable of handling several rules for fast pitch softball and college baseball (beta).

1.3.21.0  MAJOR UPDATE.  This update fixes an issue with some systems having read/write problems while running the program.  The program itself, BBHelper.exe, remains located in the same "Program Files (x86)" folder as always, along with a few other read-only files.  Other game files, which are read/write, have been relocated to an "AppData" folder which won't need to be accessed by users.  All season files will be relocated to the computer's "My Documents" folder (that name varies depending upon the version of Windows you are using) for full read/write privileges.  If you have previous seasons installed on your machine, these should be copied to your "My Documents" folder automatically the first time you run the new release.  The original copies will remain in their previous location (ordinarily in the "Program Files (x86)\4th Street Software\4th Street Baseball" folder).  Future seasons purchased will automatically be placed in the "My Documents" folder.  The only other changes fix a potential issue with a font size for certain labels, and the addition of color-coded left-right-switch hitter designations on the game screen.

1.2.21.2  A new "Board Game Score Keeper" option was added to the game options.  This can be used to create a stats file for a game played with the board game, can create box scores, and can be compiled.

1.2.21.1  Some touch-ups were made on the team labels in the game module...an automatic "alt" color is now defined automatically if one was not previously chosen, and the win-loss of each team is displayed as it was prior to the initial 2021 release.  A "find first scheduled game" button replaces the old bookmark button previously found on the startup form.  It also sets the "first day" so that it automatically is displayed upon loading the player file.

1.2.21.0  Annual update.  Two new extractor functions are now available in the stats module; a situational hitting report, showing hitters' stats in each of the eight base-running situations, and a time span report, which generates a report to display hitters and pitchers stats over a specific time period.  A new set of dice are displayed in the game.  A new type of "mini" box score is now the default, and shows a report much more like that of a newspaper box score on steroids.  Increased flexibility in the data importer and player editor modules.

1.2.20.2  Fixed an issue with players performing for two teams not showing up in the "Special Reports"

1.2.20.1  Fixed an issue with pinch hitters not having their correct position displayed if they took the field.  Other minor fixes.

1.2.20.0  First semi-major release in quite some time includes "Player View" mode, where one can see the pitcher, hitter, and fielder (if applicable) with highlighted areas on their cards, indicating how the play result was generated.  Newly designed "bench" areas now include tabs for the lineup, bullpen, and bench, allowing complete view of bench and bullpen lists.  Schedule details box is now drag-and-drop enabled.

1.1.20.5  Added "next" and "prev" buttons for viewing mini box scores, akin to what was done in 1.1.20.3 for regular box scores.  Fixed an issue with runner and fielder panels not displaying after using the "AutoPlay through Inning>" option.  Fixed a potential crash error if computer is disconnected from the internet during startup.

1.1.20.4  Fixed an issue with an "ID" setting from update 1.1.20.3.  Added an "AutoPlay Options" menu, an "AutoPlay Through Inning >" menu option to game, and an "AutoPlay Remainder of Game" menu option.  To use the "AutoPlay Through Inning" option, select "AutoPlay" when setting up a game, then select the inning you'd like to AutoPlay through from the menu.  This option will only be enabled if you select "AutoPlay" as the game type.  To use the "AutoPlay Remainder of Game" option, use the "Normal" game option, and at some point if you wish to have the computer complete the game (the game is a blowout, your grandchildren have invaded the premises, etc.) select the option from the "AutoPlay Options" menu.

1.1.20.3  Refined pitcher usage within game to better fit actual usage patterns.  Added "next" and "previous" buttons to box score toolbar option on Stats screen.  You can use this to look at each box score during the season, or just look at a specific team's box scores.  Added "Avg" and "ERA" columns to box scores, updating players' stats as the season progresses.  On 4/9/2020, a newer edition of this same file was posted, which should permanently fix the issue of the game reverting back to "demo mode" for some users.  If you purchased an activation code after installing the demo, the update will ask you - one more time - for that activation code.  After that, future updates should run without it.  If for some reason your activation code does not work or you have lost it, please let me know via e-mail (4ss@4ss.biz) and give me the approximate date which you purchased the code, and I will send you a new one.

1.1.20.2  Repaired an issue with weather-outs.  Added "stats reconcile" buttons to data import screen.

1.1.20.1  Made another fix with the game going back into demo mode after updates for some users.  Added team colors to their names on the score board.

1.1.19.20  Updated a "hard-wired" element of the program update process.

1.1.19.19  Fixed an issue with the game going back into demo mode after updates.  You may still have to enter an activation code the first time after installing this update, but after that it should register properly.

1.1.19.18  Auto-Play and Run Schedule games will now play at a faster clip by unchecking the "Use Auto-Play Graphics" box in the PBP settings on the game options screen.  Fixed an issue with graphics causing an "Out of Memory" error during Auto-Play and Run Schedule games.

1.1.19.17  Added a calendar display to the schedule generator.

1.1.19.16  Added more functionality to schedule generator.  Added a "catch" to prevent issues if user changes the name of a league after it has started.

1.1.19.15  Fixed issue with "lastcompiled" attribute that caused crashes after day 365.  Fixed an issue with schedule generator and manual scheduler so that played game scores will now appear in the home screen schedule list.

1.1.19.14  All games scheduled manually or by the schedule generator should now have scores reported on the home screen after compilation.

1.1.19.13  Added functionality for weather-outs...suspended games and "called" games will be available for future completion, but not compiled.  Fixed an issue and added functionality to season meld.

1.1.19.12  Fixed an issue with the AI calling for an infield in defense, but having the program resetting the command before it being carried out.  Added a game time temperature to the program.

1.1.19.11  Added a "File Meld" option, which will allow users to import players from different seasons into a new file.  For example, one could create an "All Decade" set of teams from the 70's.  Several small improvements were made to the player editor, mostly to prevent overflow errors on player generation routines.

1.1.19.10  Fixed an issue with the game converting itself back to "DEMO" status.  If you need help with this, please e-mail us.  Implemented some changes to the demo version.

1.1.19.9  Fixed an issue with the "Extracted Stats" option for hitting streaks.  Updated the dice pictures for the game.  The demo version of the game will now allow game play among any teams in the first division.  Fixed an issue with play-by-play readings that included the top or bottom of specific innings.  Fixed a label issue on the pitching and fielding leader boards.

1.1.19.8  Fine-tuned an issue with the stolen base routine.  Added a new routine to the player file update system.  Passed balls league totals were added.  Home-Away Win-Loss records have been added to the standings reports (an option to turn this off will be included in a later release).

1.1.19.7  Added a checklist for roster additions/removals on game options screen so that players may be added or removed from active roster.  Added a placement grid for players on game option screen.  Fixed an issue which made the manager button not visible on some systems.

1.1.19.6  Fixed an issue with the DH being an option to use, even when its setting was turned off.  Includes an update to the activation system employed in version 1.1.19.4.  Please contact us if you experience issues!  The game settings you declared earlier may need to be renewed.  See below for the recommended settings:

1.1.19.5  Fixed a glitch in the extracted stats routine.

1.1.19.4  Includes a new extracted stats option, this one for "high game" statistics for hitting (e.g., most hits in a game for each hitter during the season).  Also includes an updated activation system when attempting to activate the demo version.

1.1.19.3  Included a new "Extracted Stats" tab in the Stats module, which searches game logs for events, such as hitting streaks.  Also included on this tab is a team "Game Results" option, which places a team's game results in the form of a point differential.  A tooltip is available which gives the date, opponent, and score of each game.  This "timeline" will eventually be an option for team stats reports.  A wild card option has been included in the stats reports.  To initiate it, go to the Settings page, click the Miscellaneous tab, and select the number of wild card teams you'd like for each league.

1.1.19.2  Updated code to automatically detect when updates are available from the new website opened on 2/23/2019.

1.1.19.1  Fixed an issue with the comparison option in the stats module when attempting to view "actual" statistics.
1.1.19.0  Annual iteration update.  Added a set of modifiers for player construction in the player editor module.  This will make it easier to fine-tune some of the stats that deviate greatly from year to year.

1.1.18.16  Added a "Comparison" option in the stats reports so that replay statistics can be compared to actual stats.  Players who play for more than one team can now have their stats displayed as grand totals, or as totals for a specific team(s).  An option was also added so that all players who played on a team can have their stats displayed (or not displayed) in a report.
1.1.18.15  Corrected an error with "send runners" option when third out of an inning occurs on a strike-em out, throw-em out double play.
1.1.18.14  Added AI code for pitchers in bunting situations.  "Prk" results will now reflect the hitter's power rating in the advanced game log reports.  "Pwr" results will be marked with a "0," since the power rating of a hitter is not used in said reports.
1.1.18.13  Added several new "special reports" in the stats module.  Fixed an issue with pitcher stolen base against when compiling stats.
1.1.18.12  The stats compiler will now keep track of and report innings played for fielder.
1.1.18.11  The auto-update notifier is working again, and the program will automatically notify you if an update is available.
1.1.18.10  Fixed some issues with players or their stats (SB, CS) not showing up in the box score.  Included a "special reports" tab in the stats module which will allow hitting, pitching, and fielding stats to be generated players on selected teams.
1.1.18.9  Fixed an error caused with automatic substitutions.
1.1.18.8  Several improvements were made to the player editor.  Some plays resulting in errors resulted in hitters being credited with an RBI have been changed so that no RBI is awarded (run to RBI ratio was too high).
1.1.18.7  Program can now exit competely by using the "x" in the upper-right corner.  Some new minimum settings were provided for the individual leader boards in the stats module.
1.1.18.6  Program was made into a "single instance application" in an effort to prevent "open file" errors from occurring.
1.1.18.5  Program should now "Run as Administrator" automatically.  Update.dat error code modified to give more specific descriptions.
1.1.18.4  Fixed an issue which caused the demo version of the program to crash, caused by the new "dead ball era" game options.
1.1.18.3  Fixed an issue with players not appearing in box score when multiple (>10) substitutions had occurred for the same batting slow.  Streamlined box score and mini-box score code.
1.1.18.2 A "Create New File" function was added to the player editor. An option now exists in the settings page to allow doubles down the lines only when a player's run rating meets or exceeds a certain threshold.
1.1.18.1 Additional code was added for the data importer and player editor. Fixed an issue with AI managers occasionally "burning through" an entire bullpen in the course of an inning, especially during extra-inning ball games. Added "safety" features to prevent inadvertent button clicking during I/O operations. Added a routine to automatically generate rotations and assign relief roles.
1.1.18.0 Lineups and pitching rotations will be updated so that each player's "Retro ID" will be used as an identifier, rather than his file number. This update is automatically initiated upon loading a player file. THIS IS A MAJOR UPDATE! It will NOT correct some roster errors made by previous versions of the program, so if you encounter problems with a player file following this upgrade, please contact 4th Street Software. We'll send out an updated player file to replace the one(s) you have purchased.
