The 1972 season is now available in both board game
and computer game formats!
The 1972 season championship went to Miami in a win over Washington.
This completed Miami's perfect season, in which they went 17-0!
There were a number of notable performances throughout the league, including:
 | Chicago's pathetic offense was led by QB Bobby Douglass, who ran (968) for
almost as many yards as he threw (1246)! |
 | The Packers enjoyed one of their best seasons at 10-4, led by the
incredible rushing tandem of John Brockington (1027 yards) and MacArthur Lane
(821). |
 | George Allen's "Over-the-Hill" gang came within a game of winning it all! |
 | Workhorse back Ron Johnson rushed for 1182 yards, and caught 45 passes for
another 451! |
 | Bill Bradley led the league with 9 interceptions but still had time to
punt 56 times, and returned 22 more! |
 | Craig Morton led Dallas's offense after Roger Staubach was injured.
He led the team to a 10-4 record and Dallas made the playoffs for a record 7th
straight time! |
 | Steve Spurrier stepped in for John Brodie in San Fran and led his team to
a Western Division Championship! |
 | Archie Manning threw a whopping 448 passes for New Orleans, but they still
only managed to win 2 games on the year. |
 | Miami had two 1000-yard rushers in Csonka and Morris, and a third with
over 500 in Jim Kiick! |
 | New York's Joe Namath averaged 8.7 yards per passing attempt. Pretty
impressive, until you see that Earl Morrall averaged 9.1 for Miami! |
 | OJ ran for an impressive 1251 yards for Buffalo! |
 | Cincinnati fans experienced the beginning of new QB great Ken Anderson's
career! |
 | Dan Pastorini couldn't get Houston out of the AFC Central cellar. At
1-13, the only win was against New York in week 3! |
 | The "Steel Curtain" was beginning to stiffen, with few teams able to beat
the impressive Pittsburgh defense! |
 | Kenny Stabler began his emergence as the Oakland QB, but Daryle Lamonica
was good enough to get this club to 10-3-1 and into the playoffs again! |
 | Kansas City's dynasty began its slow spiral to an ugly death. At
8-6, Arrowhead wouldn't see a better team for a longggggggggggg time. |
