The 1971 season is now available in both board game
and computer game formats!
The 1971 season championship went to Dallas in a dominating 24-3 performance
over Miami. Roger Staubach threw 2 TD passes to eventual Hall-Of-Famers
Lance Alworth and Mike Ditka, and the Dallas defense stifled the 'Phins, who
managed just 185 total yards in the game.
There were a number of notable performances throughout the league, including:
 | San Diego's John Hadl passed a league-high 431 times for 3075 yards |
 | Fred Biletnikoff snagged 61 catches and scored 9 TDs for Oakland |
 | Denver's Floyd LIttle ran for 1133 yards for a 4-9-1 team |
 | Pittsburgh's Terry Bradshaw showed signs of becoming a dominating QB by
nearly doubling his statistics of his rookie season |
 | Dan Pastorini came on in Houston to provide a glimpse of a future rivalry
between the Oilers and Steelers |
 | Joe Namath missed most of the season because of his gimpy knees, forcing
the Jets to become a one-dimensional offense yet again |
 | Larry Csonka pounded his way for 1061 yards and a 5.4 yard average,
despite rarely running anything but "up-the-gut" plays for Miami |
 | Archie Manning led the Saints to a surprise victory over eventual champion
Dallas, but the 'Aints still managed to win only 4 games on the year |
 | The 49ers boasted two 800+ yard fushers in Ken Willard and Vic Washington
while winning the NFC West |
 | The Minnesota defense somehow managed to win 11 games for the Vikings,
despite their inept offense |
 | The Detroit defense somehow managed to lose 6 games for the Lions, despite
their outstanding offense |
 | Bill Kilmer and Larry Brown led the 'Skins to a NFC Wild Card berth with a
9-4-1 record |
