The last season of the old AFL, this one was a barn-burner, culminated by Kansas City's huge upset of Minnesota in Super Bowl IV.  Some other highlights of the season:

bulletCraig Morton had an 8.7 yard per average pass stat, which was about a yard more than any other passer in the NFL
bulletGale Sayers led the NFL in rushing with 1032 yards
bulletThree receivers in the NFL finished with at least a 21 yard receiving average
bulletDetroit's Bobby Williams had a 33.1 KO return average
bulletMel Renfro intercepted 10 passes to lead the league
bulletDaryle Lamonica led the AFL in passing with over 3300 yards and 34 TDs.  Unfortunately, he was also picked off 25 times
bulletSix receivers in the AFL finished with at least a 20 yard receiving average, including two who topped 26 yards per catch in Warren Wells and Ron Sellers
bulletMercury Morris had a 105 yard KO return for a TD
bulletNew York's Steve O'Neal had a 98 yard punt!
